Newquay is a great holiday destination at any time of year, but Summer is where you can really enjoy the beaches, festivals and local activities. Here are some ideas for what to do in Newquay this Summer:
Attend a festival
If you enjoy good music and good vibes, why not attend one of the many festivals on in the local area in the coming months? Boardmasters is a huge festival taking place at Watergate and Fistral Beach between 10-14 August, which this year is being headlined by the likes of Kings of Leon and George Ezra.
There are plenty of other festivals and events on too, including Tunes in The Dunes at Perranporth (24-26 June), Symphony by The Sea at Lusty Glaze (23 July), and Newquay Beer Festival (23-25 September).
Head to the beach
An obvious choice, but Newquay’s beaches really aren’t to be missed, especially in the summer months! Whether you want to surf, sunbathe, or swim, there are plenty of beaches within walking distance of Penwyth House. Porth Beach is a 10-15 minute walk away and is a great beach for swimming, body boarding, or sunbathing. Or, if surfing and water sports are more your thing, you can take a scenic walk to Watergate Bay in around 40 minutes.
Walk the coast path
With gorgeous views all around, make a day of it by leaving the car and taking a long walk instead. Whether you’re walking into town, walking East to Watergate or West to Crantock, you can enjoy some incredible views and plenty to see and do on the way. Take a surfing lesson
Newquay and surfing go hand in hand, If you haven’t tried it yet, we highly recommend taking a surfing lesson and seeing what the hype is all about! You can take surfing lessons on many of the local beaches including Blue Surf School at Watergate Bay, Waverunner Safaris at Lusty Glaze, or Fistral Beach Surf School.
Relax
After a busy day in the sun, why not wind down at one of Newquay’s spas? A great way to end the day, there are a number of spas in the local area where you can relax and watch the sunset, including Sands Resort and the famous Headland Hotel.
